Brian Schaeffer serves as Chief Executive Officer for WTS Proprietary Trading Group, WTFG’s Manhattan-based domestic broker/dealer. Schaeffer also serves as WTFG’s Chief Strategy Officer and Managing Partner.
Schaeffer has spent over a decade of his career as a top specialist on the New York Stock Exchange. Attending the University of Rhode Island on an academic scholarship, he was a political science major heading to law school. But after a summer internship on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, he realized that trading was his calling.
Starting as a floor clerk, Schaeffer reached head specialist, managing trading activities in the top equities in the U.S. market: Disney, Hewlett Packard, and Pfizer to name a few. After ten successful years, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Van Der Moolen Capital Markets, one of the largest listed global trading and technology companies.
Schaeffer also served under John Thain as a public relations representative at the NYSE. During his tenure, he supervised the visits of many of the most prestigious guests to visit the NYSE: President George W. Bush, various Disney executives, ambassadors and dignitaries from around the world.
